Worship at First
Congregational Church
Worship is an
integral part of our life as Christians. Worship includes the
praising of God, the desire for reconciliation with God and our
neighbors, the hearing and illumination of God's Word, the celebration
of the sacraments and the offering of ourselves to God.
We gather to worship at 8:00 am and 10:00 am each
Sunday in the Meetinghouse. Childcare is provided. Church
School children worship with their families during the opening
portion of the 10:00 am service and then are excused after the
Youth Sermon to go to their classes. There is also infant and
toddler child care in the Baby Nursery during the 10:00 am service.
A Prayer Circle is held each Sunday morning as well.
Together as ONE: God's Family Worships
I was glad

God's family
in Branford has many faces, young and old, newcomers and lifelong
members, each uniquely different but all wonderfully alike in
our love of Jesus Christ and his church. Yet too often, we don't
have the chance to worship God with our entire family present,
to see the many generations in our church joyfully interacting
with one another. That's why you're invited to our first Together
as ONE worship service on September 28, 10 AM. Sunday School
will not be held that day (although childcare will still be available
for younger children) so that our children and their teachers
will be able to celebrate with us. Special music, lively prayers
and scriptural surprises will be in store for everyone, making
worship a joy-filled event that can be re-lived and discussed
throughout the week. It's an opportunity for those of us mature
in our faith to share our wisdom and experience with those growing
in faith. It's also an opportunity for our children to experience
the sights and sounds of worship, reinforcing their faith and
encouraging them to learn more about God. This fall, Together
as ONE will become part of our regular worship schedule, with
the last Sunday of each month set aside for our "get together"
at 10 AM. Be sure not to miss our family reunions!

The 10am Sunday service is televised on Branford
Cable Access, Channel 18. The service is telecast each Sunday
at 1:30pm and 9:30 pm.
First Congregational
Church recognizes two
sacraments:
Holy Communion and Baptism. We celebrate Holy Communion in the
Meetinghouse on the first Sunday of each month, and on Maundy
Thursday and Pentecost. Communion is also celebrated each Wednesday
night in the Chapel. All Christians are invited to participate
with us in this sacrament. Baptisms are usually scheduled to occur
during the 10:00 am Sunday morning worship on the second Sunday
of each month. Baptisms on other days are arranged with the ministers.
