Habitat for Humanity International
is a non-denominational Christian organization in which volunteers
work with families and communities to build affordable housing.
Low-cost, affordable housing is built using volunteer labor, donations
towards building supplies, and the "sweat equity" of
the family which will own the home. Houses are purchased with
a no-interest mortgage which is based upon the cost of the materials.
Mortage payments are are used to build additional houses....true
recycling of resources!
Members of First Congregational Church
have worked with Habitat for Humanity in New Haven, and have
made several trips to Circleville,West Virginia to build homes
in this Appalachian community.
Teamwork gets the
job done!
