In August 2002, approximately 40 members and friends of First Congregational Church travelled to the barrio of Guasmo Sur, Guayaquil, Ecuador, to participate in Adopta Una Familia IV. This year the work involved construction of bathrooms, beginning work on a new community center for Mi Cometa, and a women's health clinic. |

Guasmo is a community of 400,000 people who live in bamboo or cinderblock houses. Most of the roads are dirt, and many of the houses lack basic sanitary facilities. Since Adopta Una Familia began, over 50 tiled bathrooms have been built. |
